Tigertones Gather for 60th Anniversary!
In early October 2006, six generations of Tigertones descended on Princeton's campus for a weekend-long celebration in honor of the group's sixtieth anniversary. The weekend began Friday evening when the undergraduate group shared the stage with internationally renowned men's group Chanticleer to rave reviews (click here to see a review that appeared in Princeton's Town Topics). Saturday's activities included an alumni brunch, an afternoon full of rehearsing and singing in the arches around campus. That evening, the alumni gathered in Princeton's Icahn Center for a cocktail reception and banquet. The day concluded with an exodus en masse to Blair Arch, where nearly one hundred alumni sang songs spanning the group's sixty year history late into the night. Following breakfast in the lobby of Alexander Hall the next morning, successive generations of Tones took the stage in Richardson Auditorium, each presenting a selection of songs from their era. The weekend came to a close as all the Tigertones took the stage at once to sing four timeless Tone staples, including Mood Indigo, The Song Is Ended, The Orange Moon, and of course, Coney Island Baby. The weekend, all in all, was a tremendous success, and the Tones couldn't be more excited for the NEXT major anniversary, by which time the current members too will have long joined the alumni ranks. Special thanks to Chanticleer and to all the Tone alumni who helped make this event so wonderful. |
